Collecting Stool Specimens

A stool specimen is a sample of your bowel movement that helps diagnose certain conditions or infections affecting your digestive system. If your provider has ordered one of the stool tests described in this booklet, you will need a specific collection container for your sample.

Please visit the North Oaks Outpatient Diagnostic Center in Hammond or the Livingston Parish Multispecialty Clinic Laboratory in Livingston to pick up the appropriate container(s) for your test. You may call our Lab for guidance on how to properly collect and handle your specimen.
