  • Yesterday, Louisiana released the latest COVID-19 data, which does show that we are plateauing as a state and region (Region 9). It appears that universal masking is working! However, Louisiana is ranked #1 per capita for positive cases in the entire nation.
  • Education is wrapping up regarding the new, mandatory Department of Health and Human Services questionnaire required to be completed when ordering a COVID-19 test. The mandate goes into effect Monday, Aug. 3.
  • Employee Wellness returned 6 employees to work yesterday. We have 34 staff members out – 7 of which are RNs and 0 of which are respiratory therapists – self-monitoring symptoms at home or awaiting test results. This week’s numbers are an improvement from last week. Staffing remains tight but good. Special thanks to staff members who are stepping up to help cover night shift!
  • Supplies are adequate.
  • Dr. Peltier’s COVID-19 Update radio interviews with Johnny Chauvin on Tangi 96.5 FM at 7:10 a.m. will move from twice weekly to once weekly starting next week on Thursday, Aug. 6. Listen to the live broadcasts on Thursdays until further notice. If you miss them, you can access them later atwww.northoaks.org/coronavirus.
  • Thank you to nearly 55 providers who joined our weekly provider call yesterday! Provider calls will continue to be hosted at 12:30 p.m. every Wednesday until further notice.
  • Case Managers and Charge Nurses are asked to be mindful of the delays we are experiencing in COVID-19 testing turnaround when it comes to discharge planning for patient placement at other facilities, such as NORH or nursing homes. Start thinking about this upon admission and get COVID-19 testing ordered in a timely manner so it can be within the 7-day window to prevent hold-ups to the patient discharge plans.
  • We hoped you enjoyed yesterday’s ice cream treat in appreciation for your hard work and dedication to our mission of improving lives in these unprecedented times! Thank you for the job you are doing! We truly appreciate it!
