Our Mission

The mission of the North Oaks Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program is to prepare physicians for independent practice through rigorous clinical training, professional development, and patient-centered care. We are committed to serving the healthcare needs of our community
and to developing internists who will contribute to and strengthen the region we serve. Our program fosters a culture grounded in communication, compassion, courtesy, and commitment, while promoting responsible, high-quality, cost-effective medical care, continuous improvement, and lifelong
learning.

Program Goals

As a North Oaks internal medicine resident, you will:
  • Practice comprehensive internal medicine, emphasizing excellent clinical skills and patient-centered, culturally aware, high-value care
  • Pursue subspecialty training or practice primary care or hospital medicine, based on individual career goals

  • Understand and engage in clinical research, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives

  • Lead and participate in quality improvement efforts that promote optimal systems-based care

  • Commit to lifelong learning and teaching

  • Demonstrate compassion for patients, respect for healthcare team members, and empathy for the community, with a particular focus on underserved populations

  • Collaborate with and effectively lead interdisciplinary teams

  • Apply public health principles and utilize community resources to manage the health of populations and individual patients

  • Prioritize self-care and maintain personal physical and mental wellness
