Your Gifts in Action

Since 2015, the North Oaks Foundation has made an immediate impact on the capabilities of the system, arming physicians with technology to diagnose and treat dangerous conditions faster, giving wheels to preventive healthcare and screenings, and supporting caregivers when unforeseen adversity arises.

Mobile Care

First Guaranty Bank and the foundation united to fund the purchase of North Oak Health System’s first Mobile Care unit. Mobile Care, a population-health initiative, mobilizes healthcare screenings and assessments, and connects residents to providers for further care.

Mobile Care improves healthcare access in Tangipahoa and Livingston parishes by traveling to multiple locations in the community each week and supporting community events.

Neonatal Intensive and Intermediate Care Cameras

The foundation purchased 14 web-based video cameras for the Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) and the Intermediate Care nurseries at North Oaks Medical Center. The technology provides a secure connection for parents to view their newborns in these high-care nurseries outside of visiting hours.

The foundation funded the purchase eight cameras, and a private donor funded the purchase of the remaining six. The donor gift was made in gratitude for the exceptional care provided by North Oaks Medical Center to a family member.

Biplane

A $143,000 allocation from the North Oaks Foundation funded the purchase of a biplane unit for North Oaks Medical Center’s Interventional Radiology department. This piece of imaging equipment is specifically designed for the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders and conditions, such as strokes and aneurysms.

The two- and three-dimensional capabilities allow the neuroradiologist to view the brain, arteries and spine with one single injection of X-ray dye.

Because it’s safer and faster than other procedures, utilizing the biplane can help reduce risk, length of stay and burden to patients and their families.

Employee Assistance Fund

Since 2016, the foundation has provided $175,293 in assistance to North Oaks employees who have encountered unforeseen, sudden hardship. The fund has helped employees affected by hurricanes, floods or with serious medical diagnoses.

In supporting our team members who provide vital healthcare to our patients, the foundation continues to improve lives with every touch, every time.
