The mission of North Oaks’ Internal Medicine Residency Program is to train outstanding internists dedicated to improving the health of our patients and communities. We foster an environment that promotes wellness for both our healthcare providers and patients, integrating the diverse backgrounds and life experiences of our residents, staff and faculty.

Our program is designed to prepare residents for real-world practice in their chosen community setting. We are committed to providing a comprehensive education that equips our residents to:
Practice comprehensive internal medicine, focusing on excellent clinical skills and patient-centered, culturally aware, high-value care
Either pursue subspecialty training or practice primary care or hospital medicine, as desired
Understand and engage in clinical, patient safety and quality improvement research
Lead and participate in quality initiatives that promote optimal systems-based care
Commit to life-long learning and teaching
Demonstrate compassion for patients, respect for healthcare team members and empathy for the community, with a particular focus on the underserved
Collaborate with and competently lead interdisciplinary teams
Apply public health principles and utilize community resources to manage the health of populations and individual patients
