Certified Nursing Assistant Bertiel Honored with Employee of the Month Award

Certified Nursing Assistant Bertiel has received North Oaks Health System's Employee of the Month Award for March 2023.

Bertiel has belonged to the North Oaks team since 1994. She worked with Hospice as a Certified Nursing Assistant before transferring to Infusion Therapy in 2017. Since childhood, she has felt called to take care of others in her work.

“My motto is to treat people like I want to be treated,” she explains. “My focus is helping to make each patient comfortable before his or her nurse begins infusion therapy. It is a blessing to work in an environment where everyone works together for the common good of each patient.”

Bertiel is a graduate of Shreveport Job Corps Center’s certified nursing assistant program.

Bertiel and her husband Anthony Sr. call Ponchatoula home. They have three adult children – Joseph, Anthony, Jr. and Annisha – and seven grandchildren – 20-year-old Ja’Niyah, 17-year-old Sincere, 14-year-olds Melian and Aiden, 13-year-old Christian, 5-year-old Jaide and 1-year-old Jayce.

A self-described “homebody,” Bertiel loves to sing and devotes her time away from work enjoying her grandchildren and serving her church.

“Bertiel is one of the kindest and most empathetic people I know," asserts Patient Services Manager Cheryl Flynn. "We affectionately call her ‘Honey Bee’ to describe the way she ever so gently and respectfully goes about her duties of supporting the care and comfort of our patients. She is the glue that holds our team together.”
