Emergency Department Staff Registered Nurse Adam Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Emergency Department Staff Registered Nurse Adam has been honored with the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for May 2022.

Adam joined the North Oaks team as a Staff Registered Nurse on the General Surgery Unit in 2017 and transferred to the Emergency Department in the same position in 2018. He helps to train new staff members as a preceptor and serves as secretary of the Emergency Department’s unit-based nursing shared governance council.

Adam was inspired to become a nurse by his young cousin’s fight against brain cancer.

“Through diagnosis and treatments to hospice, a nurse was always by her side,” Adam notes. “I wanted to be one of those nurses – playing a small part in people’s lives to help them in their time of need.”

Adam met his career goal by graduating from Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit with an associate degree in Nursing.

Pine Grove is home to Adam and his wife Payge, along with their three dogs, cat, two goats, two ducks and eleven chickens. The couple attends Victory Temple Church in Greensburg.

Outside of work, spending time with Payge and their pets is Adam’s priority. He also enjoys making custom furniture in his shop.

“In nominating Adam for this recognition, providers and staff praised his great work ethic, great personality and great caregiving skills," asserts Emergency Services Director Eric Neal. "Always looking for ways to brighten the day for others, Adam is dependable, flexible and skilled at anticipating the needs of his patients and coworkers.”
