Heart Disease to be Discussed at North Oaks Diabetes Education’s July Meeting

As of June 2021, heart disease continues to be the leading cause of death in the U.S. with rates even higher than COVID-19. Prevent becoming a statistic by embracing healthy lifestyle habits.

North Oaks Cardiology Clinic Nurse Practitioner and Practice Supervisor Charlie Shelton will dive deeper into ways to reduce the risk of heart disease at the next North Oaks Diabetes Education meeting from 4-5 p.m., Tuesday, July 13. The topics of diabetes-related heart disease, as well as managing blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol and weight will be discussed at the free meeting. Provider referrals are not necessary; however, seating is limited, and registration is required. Reserve your space here or by calling (985) 243-9106.

North Oaks Diabetes Education meetings are held at the North Oaks Diagnostic Center, located at 15837 Paul Vega, M.D., Drive in Hammond. COVID-19 safety measures applicable to health care settings will apply during the meeting as set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state of Louisiana.

North Oaks Diabetes Education offers group meetings on a monthly basis. Subject matter experts are invited to discuss insights on current health topics related to diabetes to help participants live their healthiest lives. Time also is set aside during each meeting for participants to ask questions and share experiences, tips, ideas and concerns with diabetes experts and each other.

The American Diabetes Association recognizes North Oaks Diabetes Education as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education.
