Letter from Transitional Year Program Director
Dear Prospective Applicants,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Transitional Year Residency Program
at North Oaks Medical Center.
We are excited that you are considering our program as the foundation of
your graduate medical education journey. Our goal is to provide a broad,
balanced, and enriching clinical experience that prepares residents for
success in a wide range of specialties.
At North Oaks Medical Center, you will find a supportive and collegial
learning environment where resident well-being, professional growth, and
academic excellence are highly valued. Our residents rotate through multiple
specialties—including Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Nephrology,
Cardiology, Dermatology, Radiology, and several elective opportunities—allowing
them to gain exposure across disciplines while refining their clinical
skills and identifying their career paths.
We also take pride in fostering a culture that encourages residents to
engage in presentations, scholarly activity, and research projects, as
well as supporting those who are preparing to reapply to residency programs.
Our faculty and leadership are deeply committed to mentorship—helping
residents strengthen their CVs, secure strong recommendation letters,
and achieve their desired matches in the following year.
North Oaks Medical Center houses both Transitional Year and Categorical
Internal Medicine programs, which work closely together to create a collaborative,
family-like environment. Residents often describe our program as welcoming,
collegial, and truly enjoyable, with an atmosphere that promotes both
learning and camaraderie.
As Program Director, my goal is to ensure that you receive comprehensive
training that prepares you not only for your next residency but also for
lifelong excellence in medicine. We are proud of our graduates who have
gone on to thrive in fields such as Anesthesiology, Radiology, Dermatology,
Ophthalmology, and Neurology, among others.
Thank you for your interest in the Transitional Year Residency Program
