For the second consecutive year, Newsweek has named North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital to its list of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers, ranking #9 in Louisiana—the same top 10 position it held last year.
Of the more than 1,000 inpatient rehabilitation facilities nationwide, only 320 earned a place on the 2025 list, which Newsweek compiles in partnership with Statista Inc., a global market research and consumer data firm. Now in its fifth year, the annual ranking is designed to help patients and their families identify the top inpatient physical rehabilitation facilities in the country that exemplify best patient care practices and set an example for others.
Rankings were evaluated using a combination of quality metrics, accreditation data, patient satisfaction via Google reviews and a nationwide survey of industry experts.
“We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition again for the exceptional, patient-centered care offered by our team,” affirms Mac Barrient, administrator of North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital. “This continued recognition is a testament to our providers’ expertise, collaboration and commitment to helping patients achieve lifechanging outcomes.”
“Being named one of America’s Best Physical Rehabilitation Centers by Newsweek for the second year in a row is a tremendous honor—and it’s all thanks to the extraordinary leadership and team of providers, therapists, nurses and ancillary staff at North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital. Their unwavering dedication, clinical excellence and compassionate care continue to improve lives every day. I am deeply proud of their commitment to our mission and grateful for the life-changing impact they make in our community,” adds Michele K. Sutton, FACHE, President and CEO of North Oaks Health System.
The Newsweek honor comes on the heels of North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital celebrating its thirtieth year of service in September and achieving reaccreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities earlier this year with no recommendations for improvement. This distinction is achieved by less than 3% of the more than 22,000 facilities CARF surveys worldwide. The hospital is also accredited by The Joint Commission and is home to one of Louisiana’s few CARF-accredited stroke specialty programs.
North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital specializes in comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation for patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord injuries, complex joint replacement surgeries, neurological disorders, arthritis and other debilitating or congenital conditions.
The hospital features 27 private, barrier-free patient rooms, an 8,000-square-foot therapy gym (including a kitchen and laundry room to help patients practice daily living skills), and a transitional living apartment and therapeutic garden to support recovery and promote independence.
