North Oaks Sports Medicine Hosts Annual Coaches Seminar to Kick Off 2025-2026 Athletic Season

North Oaks Sports Medicine proudly hosted the 2025 Coaches Seminar on Thursday, July 31, bringing together 225 coaches from Tangipahoa and Livingston parishes for a day of education, collaboration and inspiration.

Hosted in the E. Brent Dufreche Conference Center on the North Oaks Medical Center campus, the seminar focused on critical topics in athletics, including sports nutrition, concussion protocols, in-season performance training and safety policies. Attendees gained valuable insights from experts in sports medicine and performance, equipping them with the tools to better support student-athletes both on and off the field.

A highlight of the event was the keynote address by Rick Fremin, head coach of Southeastern Louisiana University’s softball team. Coach Fremin delivered a powerful message on the importance of building a formidable team culture, embracing the coaching journey and recognizing the lasting impact coaches have on today’s youth.

“We’re proud to support the development of coaches who shape the future of athletics in our region,” affirms North Oaks Sports Medicine Manager Steven Poche. “This seminar is a testament to our commitment to safety, performance and community.”

The coaches seminar is one of many ways that North Oaks Sports Medicine benefits student-athletes, their parents and the athletic directors and coaching staffs of participating junior high and high schools in Tangipahoa and Livingston parishes. Other offerings include, but are not limited to, free, annual physical screenings; concussion screenings; onsite care at practices and games and follow-up rehabilitation to help injured athletes return safely to the game; and recognition of student-athletes of the year.

North Oaks is the official healthcare provider for Southeastern Louisiana University Athletics and Chappapeela Sports Park, club sponsor for the South Tangi Youth Soccer Association and the sole healthcare community partner and exclusive provider of sports medicine and performance services for Tangipahoa Parish School System.
