Infusion Therapy Unit Registered Nurse Christine Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Infusion Therapy Unit Registered Nurse Christine has received North Oaks Health System's Nurse Excellence Award for May 2023.

Prior to joining North Oaks, Christine worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for about 16 years during which time she returned to school to become a Registered Nurse. After graduation, Christine joined the North Oaks team in 2007 as an Infusion Therapy Unit Registered Nurse.

“As the eldest child in my family, caregiving has always come naturally to me. I do my best to get on my patients’ level and really listen to them while providing them with safe, quality care,” explains Christine. “Making my patients feel at home is my goal."

Christine graduated from the Licensed Practical Nurse program at Jefferson Technical Institute in Jefferson, Louisiana before earning a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University.

She lives in Independence and has five adult children and sixteen grandchildren.

Away from work, you can find Christine making memories with her children, grandchildren and friends.

“An Oncology patient’s caregiver recently commented that Christine is ‘pure gold,'" explains Clinical Nurse Manager Cheryl Flynn. "We are fortunate to have such a truly dedicated, caring professional contributing to our mission of improving lives. She consistently says she ‘loves her job’ and ‘caring for people brings her so much reward.'"
