IT Analyst & Registered Respiratory Therapist Tammy Honored with Employee of the Month Award

Information Technology Analyst and Registered Respiratory Therapist Tammy has received North Oaks Health System's Employee of the Month Award for November 2022.

Tammy joined North Oaks in 1996 as a Certified Respiratory Therapist. In 2011, she joined the Information Technology team as an Analyst assisting with the implementation and management of the health system’s Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.

“The best aspect of my job is being able to play a part in changes that benefit our patients and staff,” explains Tammy, a two-time Employee of the Month Award recipient.

On top of her Information Technology duties, Tammy also continues to care for hospitalized patients as a Respiratory Therapist in times of need such as during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

“I believe in teamwork,” notes Tammy. 

Born in Thibodeaux, Tammy makes her home in Hammond with her dog, cat and chicken “fur and feather babies.”

Tammy is an alumna of Southeastern Louisiana University, where she earned an associate degree in Respiratory Care. She also achieved certification in orders and oncology through Epic, the health system’s provider of EHR technology.

Counted among Tammy’s favorite pastimes are gardening and camping at local campgrounds. In addition, she volunteers with Precious Souls Canine Rescue and Sanctuary in Hammond, where most of the dogs are elderly, handicapped or in hospice and need lots of love.

“Tammy is the perfect example of a team player," asserts Information Technology Acute Care Clinical Manager Matthew Chenevert. "Whether its patients, providers or coworkers, her dedication to serving others exceeds expectations. Her thoughtfulness and initiative is a powerful combination that makes her a vital part of our team here at North Oaks.”

Director of Clinical Applications Colby Tyler agrees and adds, “Tammy’s commitment to our patients, coworkers, and community is evident in everything she does. Her compassion to not only meet, but exceed, expectations are engrained in her work ethic. She shows us all what excellence looks like on a daily basis.”
