Nelson Joins North Oaks as Chief Quality and Health Equity Officer

Rami Nelson, DNP, MSN, RN, CPHQ, LSSBB, has joined North Oaks Health System’s senior leadership team as Chief Quality and Health Equity Officer.
A certified professional in healthcare quality through the National Association for Healthcare Quality, Nelson will lead the implementation and oversight of strategies designed to enhance inclusive excellence and equitable, high-quality care and patient safety across all aspects of North Oaks Health System’s operations.
“We are elated to welcome Rami to North Oaks,” asserts President & CEO Michele Kidd Sutton, FACHE. “Her expertise will be instrumental in developing innovative solutions and advancing best practices that promote patient safety and quality care for all.”
Nelson brings nearly 20 years of applicable experience to her new role. She comes to North Oaks from Tenet Healthcare, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, where she served as the national director of quality, patient safety and clinical risk management. She was responsible for developing and implementing quality, safety protocols and compliance measures across Tenet’s 58 acute care hospitals, 480 surgical hospitals and hundreds of outpatient facilities.
As a Baldrige Examiner®, Nelson serves among an elite group of leaders dedicated to advancing organizational leadership and performance excellence practices nationwide. The examiners program, established by the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, aims to enhance organizational performance and competitiveness.
She is certified by the Six Sigma Global Institute as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt specializing in organizational efficiency and productivity. Nelson also completed the Certified Patient Experience Mastery Program, equipping her with essential skills to elevate patient-centered care standards.
Other previous leadership roles include director of quality, patient safety, risk management and infection prevention for Texas Health Frisco; nurse clinical operations manager and internal regulatory consultant for John Peter Smith Hospital Network in Ft. Worth, Texas; and accreditation specialist and program manager for accreditation and regulatory affairs for Children’s Medical Center Dallas, also in Texas.
Nelson is a three-time graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington, where she earned a doctor of nursing practice degree with a concentration in executive nurse leadership, a master’s degree in nursing administration and a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She earned an associate degree in nursing from Temple College in Temple, Texas.
