Observation Unit Staff Registered Nurse Morgan Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Observation Unit Staff Registered Nurse Morgan has been honored with the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for April 2021.

Morgan joined North Oaks Medical Center’s Observation Unit team in 2015 as a Staff Registered Nurse. In addition to serving as the secretary for the Observation Unit-Based Shared Governance Council, she helps coach new hires and students and fills in as charge nurse when needed.

“The love my spectacular coworkers have for patient care motivates me to want to come to work every day and give my best,” Morgan shares. “I strive to provide holistic care because I believe each of my patient’s mental and emotional needs are just as important as their physical needs. I want my patients to feel special and heard. A little empathy can go a long way.”

Morgan’s interest in a health care career was inspired at an early age. In fact, she served as a junior volunteer at North Oaks while in high school. It was the care that her grandmother received while a hospice patient that solidified Morgan’s interest in pursuing a future in nursing.

“I remember how her nurse comforted me and my family during that difficult time. I knew I wanted to make an impact on people like she had made on me,” Morgan explains.

Morgan earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University.

She has been married to her high school sweetheart Aaron for six years. They live in Albany with their 3-year-old son Peyton.

Morgan treasures time with family and friends and enjoys traveling. Making “Target runs” also are a favorite activity!

“Morgan has a talent for encouraging others, and it’s admirable," asserts Clinical Nurse Manager Michelle Hoskins. "She is always looking out for what is in the best interests of her patients, and you can’t help but be inspired and motivated by the love and fulfillment she finds in her work!”
