General Surgery Unit Clinical Nurse Manager Brent Honored as Leader of the Second Quarter 2021

General Surgery Unit Clinical Nurse Manager Brent has received North Oaks Health System's Leader of the Quarter Award for April-June 2021.

“Nursing chose me,” shares Brent.

Brent joined North Oaks in 2003 as a Telemetry Unit Staff Registered Nurse (RN). He went on to gain experience as a Surgical Intensive Care Unit Staff RN and Flex-Ability RN. In 2016, he was promoted to General Surgery Unit Clinical Nurse Manager. Normally where patients recover after surgery, his unit has cared for COVID-19 patients for nearly 18 months.

Brent asserts, “Our teamwork, cohesion and care for our patients and each other continues to see us through these challenging times.”

Brent graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

He lives in his hometown of Franklinton with his wife June and their 15-year-old daughter, Newman. The family attends First Baptist Church in Franklinton.

Brent values family time, and his interests outside of health care include sports.
