Infection Prevention Nurse Ashley Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Infection Prevention Nurse Ashley Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Infection Prevention Nurse Ashley has been honored with the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for August 2020.

Ashley joined the Surgery Unit team in 2011 as a Staff Registered Nurse. She transferred to Endoscopy as a Staff Registered Nurse before becoming Charge Nurse. In 2016, she accepted her current role as Infection Prevention Nurse.

“In becoming an Infection Prevention Nurse, I made a commitment to encourage and inspire others to make their health and safety a daily priority,” Ashley explains.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University. Professionally, she belongs to the International and Greater New Orleans Chapters of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology. Currently, she serves on the North Oaks Hazard Response Team. She also is a past member of the health system’s Employee Engagement Council.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to belong to a team so dedicated to community,” shares Ashley.

Ashley and her husband Nathan make their home in Albany with their two sons, 5-year-old Eli and 4-year-old Owen. They are parishioners of St. Margaret Catholic Church in their hometown.

Ashley indulges in reading, baking and collecting obscure mascot T-shirts as hobbies. She also is a huge fan of true crime documentaries and podcasts.

“Ashley is a natural when it comes to Infection Prevention," asserts Infection Prevention Manager Amanda Morse. "She has the ability to dissect any situation and construct effective strategies to help protect our patients, their loved ones and staff. The countless hours she’s spent researching, educating, planning and implementing protocols as part of our ongoing COVID-19 response magnify her willingness to go above and beyond in contributing to safe health care practices.”
