Telemetry Unit Staff Registered Nurse Amanda has received the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for March 2019.
In 2015, Amanda began working on the Telemetry Unit as a Staff Registered Nurse. She’s also a Relief Charge Nurse and helps to mentor, train and recruit new nurses, in addition to chairing the Telemetry North Unit Based Council and belonging to Nursing Shared Governance.
“Collaboration, care, comfort and education are key to creating positive patient experiences," shares Amanda.
Her decision to pursue a nursing career was inspired by her diagnosis and treatment for a benign head tumor nearly a decade ago.
She is a graduate of Delgado Community College’s Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans and an alumna of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Professionally, she belongs to the American Nurses Association.
Born in California, Amanda lives in Lacombe with her 9-year-old son, Austin.
Outside of patient care, Amanda values time with her boyfriend Todd and Austin, as well as play dates with her godchild Olivia. Her favorite pastimes include arts and crafts, traveling and event and party planning.
“Always helpful, compassionate and willing to give guidance, Amanda is adored as the ‘cheerleader’ of our team" affirms Jesse Donahue, Clinical Nurse Manager. "Our patients love her too and often ask for her by name. She has a gift for putting others at ease and exemplifies excellence.”
