Willingham Joins North Oaks Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Clinic

Physiatrist Cynthia Willingham, MD, PLLC, has joined North Oaks Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Clinic in Hammond. She is accepting new patients, ages 18 and older, and will serve as Medical Director of North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital. Dr. Willingham focuses on restoring function and quality of life for those with physical impairments or disabilities. She specializes in treating people with spinal cord injuries, occupational injuries and those with carpal tunnel and severe neuromuscular damage.

“I strive to empower patients with compassion so they will have the courage to fight beyond their current limitations,” asserts Willingham.

Willingham is certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and comes to North Oaks with 18 years of physiatry and medical rehabilitation directorship experience gained at facilities, including but not limited to: Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood, Mississippi; Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa; and Hot Springs County Medical Center in Malvern, Arkansas.

She earned her medical degree through the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. During her residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, she served as chief resident.

Professionally, she belongs to the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, the American Medical Association and the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Willingham is practicing with Dr. Dong S. Cho and Nurse Practitioner Vyrl Traylor at North Oaks Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Clinic in Hammond. The providers and staff specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses or injuries affecting movement and work to improve performance without surgery. Their expertise lies in treating brain and spinal cord injuries, stroke, arthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome and neck and back pain.

The clinic is located at 2101 Robin Avenue, Suite 14 in the Hammond Park Professional Building adjacent to North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital. Hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays.
