Mission and Goals

Mission Statement

Dedicated to improving lives, every time and with every touch

Our Mission

The mission of the North Oaks Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program is to prepare physicians for independent practice through rigorous clinical training, professional development, and patient-centered care. We are committed to serving the healthcare needs of our community and to developing internists who will contribute to and strengthen the region we serve. Our program fosters a culture grounded in communication, compassion, courtesy, and commitment, while promoting responsible, high-quality, cost-effective medical care, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning.

Program Goals

Our program aims to prepare residents for independent practice in internal medicine through comprehensive training in inpatient and ambulatory care. We equip our graduates with the clinical skills, professional judgment, and adaptability necessary to pursue careers in any practice environment including community practice, academic medicine, fellowship training, or other professional pathways of their choosing. Our residents are expected to:
  • Manage both common and complex medical conditions with sound clinical reasoning.
  • Deliver high-quality, cost-effective, patient-centered care that recognizes social and system factors influencing health.
  • Develop habits of inquiry and engage in scholarly activity and quality improvement to enhance patient care.
  • Collaborate effectively within healthcare teams.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and service to the community.
  • Commit to lifelong learning, personal well-being, and continuous improvement.

Grow here. Lead here. Serve here.

At North Oaks Health, Graduate Medical Education is building more than residency training experiences. We are building a community of physicians, educators, and leaders committed to improving lives now and for generations to come.
