Dear North Oaks Family,
It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of our esteemed Board of Commissioner, Joycelyn M. Lee, R.Ph. She left this earth this week, surrounded by her family after a valiant fight with cancer.
Our hearts are full as we reflect on the life of a remarkable leader, colleague, and friend whose contributions to our health system and community will leave a lasting legacy.
Joycelyn was first appointed to the North Oaks Health System Board of Commissioners in 2014 and was reappointed to a second term in 2020.
Throughout her years of service, she brought invaluable insight, compassion, and steadfast dedication to advancing health care in our region. Her deep professionalism, paired with her genuine care for people, made her an extraordinary advocate for both our patients and our team. She was an invaluable resource, mentor and coach for our pharmacy leadership team.
A lifelong resident of Hammond, Joycelyn devoted more than 30 years to the pharmacy profession, serving in leadership and management roles across retail, long-term care, and community health settings. Her career included meaningful service as a Pharmacist at Walgreens in Hammond, Northlake Support & Services Center, the Greenfield Baptist Church Mixon–Clayton Wellness Center, and Northshore Technical Community College.
Joycelyn was recognized widely for her professional excellence, including being named to Who’s Who Among Professional Women and inducted into numerous honor societies within her field. Equally notable was her generous spirit, she was a dedicated volunteer with the American Cancer Society, The Blood Center, American Red Cross, and the Apotheca Food Bank. Her life was defined not only by what she accomplished, but by how consistently she used her gifts to lift others.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Joycelyn will remember her warmth, grace, and unwavering commitment to service. Her leadership strengthened our health system, but her kindness strengthened all who worked alongside her. Please join me in keeping Joycelyn’s family, friends, and loved ones in your thoughts during this difficult time.
Services will be held Saturday January 31 at Greenfield Missionary Baptist Church at 110 J.W. Davis Dr. Hammond, LA. Visitation is at 9:00 am until the funeral service begins at 11:00am. Learn more at https://www.najamesfh.com/obituary/joycelyn-lee.
