Nurse Practitioners Celine Jeha, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC,and Kayla Bryson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, have joined North Oaks Neurology in Hammond, a clinic of North Oaks Health System. They are now seeing established Neurology Clinic follow-up patients aged 18 and up. To schedule an appointment, call (985) 230-APPT [2778].
Working alongside neurologist Najib Murr, Celine and Kayla care for patients with a wide variety of health issues that affect the nervous system, such as brain and spinal cord disorders, headaches, stroke, seizures, movement disorders and tremors, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and epilepsy, among others.
“I was drawn to neurology because of the complexity and importance of the nervous system and its impact on every aspect of a patient’s life. Neurological conditions affect not only patients but also their families and loved ones,” Celine explains. “Having personally witnessed the challenges of neurological disease, I’ve seen firsthand how important compassionate, skilled care can be.”
Kayla first began caring for patients with neurological conditions such as migraines and neuropathy while working as a pain management Nurse Practitioner. After supporting a loved one through the day-to-day realities of a neurological condition, she gained a deeply personal understanding of the challenges patients face. That perspective helped shape Kayla’s compassionate, practical approach to care centered on forming connections with patients and their families.
It’s always important to listen to the patient and their family to really understand their full condition,” she shares. “I’ve found that sometimes it just takes someone actively listening to make patients feel 'heard' and allow for a trusting relationship.
Celine’s approach to patient care was formed through her hands-on nursing experience at an outpatient pain management procedure clinic and a cardiovascular intensive care unit. She focuses on communicating with both patients and their caregivers to help them understand their conditions, treatment options and strategies to achieve the best quality of life.
“Involving patients in their treatment plans empowers them to make informed decisions, and it’s rewarding to see their quality of life improve as they better cope with their diagnoses,” Celine adds.
Celine earned a bachelor's degree in biological science from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Loyola University of Chicago in Maywood and her master’s degree in nursing from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University in Baton Rouge. She is board-certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Kayla earned a bachelor's degree in biology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond and her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
