Registration Open for North Oaks Health System’s Annual Diabetes Symposium

North Oaks invites the community to its annual Diabetes Symposium on Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 11 am to 12:30 pm. With a theme of “Every Step Matters,” the event is geared to help participants take control in their diabetes journeys. It will be hosted in the E. Brent Dufreche Conference Center within North Oaks Diagnostic Center, located at 15837 Paul Vega, MD, Dr., on the North Oaks Medical Center campus in Hammond. Admission is free, but pre-registration is required and can be completed online here.
In observance of National Diabetes Month, North Oaks’ Annual Diabetes Symposium will offer a valuable opportunity for individuals living with diabetes, caregivers, educators and healthcare professionals to enhance their understanding of diabetes-related challenges.
From 11 to 11:30 am, participants will have the opportunity to meet with vendors and explore diabetes-related products and resources. Vendors scheduled to exhibit include Abbott, Bayer, Medtronic and Novonordisk.
The education session will follow from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, and a diabetes-friendly lunch will be served. Featured speakers and their respective topics include:
- Understanding Hypoglycemia presented by North Oaks Endocrinologist Corey Majors, MD.
- Diabetes and the Ketogenic Diet presented by North Oaks Outpatient Nutrition and Diabetes Education Manager Haley Lanter, MS, RDN, LDN, CDCES
- Under Pressure: How It Affects Wound Healing presented by North Oaks Wound Care Center Manager Allison Wetzel, PT, WCC
- Diabetes & Eye Care presented by North Oaks Eye Care Clinic Optometrist Addie Smith, OD.
