Venous Access Registered Nurse Michelle Honored with Nurse Excellence Award

Venous Access Registered Nurse Michelle has received North Oaks Health System's Nurse Excellence Award for September 2022.

In 2006 while in nursing school, Michelle joined the North Oaks team as a Pediatric Unit Nurse Tech. After graduation, she became a Staff Registered Nurse on the unit. In 2011, she transferred to Venous Access. In this role, she facilitates patient care involving the insertion and maintenance of vascular access devices, like IVs. For more than 10 years, she has consistently employed and educated others on Infusion Nursing Society’s best practices.

“I love being able to help care for and bring comfort to our patients,” shares Michelle.

Michelle earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University to fulfill her childhood dream of having a career in the medical field.

She lives in Mandeville with her husband Andy and their children – Annabelle, 11; Abigail, 8; and Nathan, 6. The family are parishioners of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Covington.

As pastimes, Michelle enjoys family time, watching movies and cheering her children on at their various sporting events.

“The passion and perseverance that Michelle brings to her role are refreshing and inspiring," asserts Patient Services Manager Cheryl Flynn. "She has the opportunity to collaborate with nearly every nursing department and patient population in the hospital. Her dependability, expertise, concern and passion for delivering the highest standard of care to each patient are prime examples of our mission to improve lives in action.”
