Hospice Nurse Trenice Honored with Nurse Excellence Award

Hospice Nurse Trenice Honored with Nurse Excellence Award

Hospice Nurse Trenice has received North Oaks Health System's Nurse Excellence Award for July 2022.

“My job is a ministry to me,” shares Trenice.

Trenice joined the North Oaks Medical Center team in 2012 as a Telemetry Unit Staff Registered Nurse. She felt a calling to become a Hospice Nurse in 2014.

“As Hospice Nurses, we care for individuals who are nearing the end of life, but our overall goal is to help our patients live their final days as they wish with dignity, grace and comfort,” she explains.

As a child, Trenice was fascinated by the red and white “candy striper” uniforms young volunteers would wear to give of their time in hospitals. As she matured, her fascination evolved into a passion for helping others. Assisting in the care of her grandmother solidified her desire to pursue a medical career. She fulfilled her dream by earning a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from University of Holy Cross in New Orleans.

Trenice lives in Ponchatoula and has a grown daughter named Darenisha.

Away from work, Trenice is actively involved in the Health & Wellness Ministry of First True Love World Outreach Ministries in Ponchatoula. She values spending time with her fiancé and enjoys watching movies, completing “DIY” projects and crafting.

“Trenice is a shining example of our mission in action," asserts Hospice Director Lisa Goings. "Her compassion makes all the difference for our patients, their families and her coworkers.”
