Telemetry Unit Charge Nurse Misti Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Telemetry Unit Charge Nurse Misti has been honored with the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for March 2022.

Seven years ago, Misti joined the North Oaks team as a Staff Registered Nurse (RN) on the Medicine Unit. Before becoming a Telemetry Unit Charge Nurse in 2020, she gained experience in Hospice and Telemetry as a Staff RN.

Driven by a desire to make a difference for others, Misti launched her medical career with Acadian Ambulance Services as an Emergency Medical Technician and then earned an associate degree in Nursing through Delgado Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans.

“I treat my patients the way I would want my family treated,” shares Misti.

Ponchatoula is home for Misti and her husband Adam. The couple has five children, who range in age from 29 to 12 – Joshua, Adam, Byron, Noah and Isabelle. They also have five grandchildren – Bransyn, 9; Gracie, 4; Joshua, 2; Harley, 2; and Adam, 1.

Away from work, Misti enjoys fishing, yardwork and family time.

“As Charge Nurse, Misti shines as a devoted patient advocate and mentor to new and current team members," asserts Clinical Nurse Manager Katherine Newell. "Her consistent poise, strength and commitment to improving lives are an example to all.”
