OR Charge Nurse Becky Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Operating Room Charge Nurse Becky has been honored with the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for December 2020.

With an affinity for helping others, Becky joined the Emergency Department team in 1998 as a Patient Care Technician. After finishing nursing school, she became a Staff Registered Nurse and then Case Manager for the Emergency Department. From there, she joined the Patient Services team as a Nursing Supervisor responsible for bed control before a promotion to manager. In 2016, she returned to direct patient care as an Operating Room Staff Registered Nurse, becoming Charge Nurse in 2018.

“Communication is key to positive patient and family experiences,” shares Becky.

Becky earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University (formerly Our Lady of the Lake College) in Baton Rouge. Prior to going into Nursing, Becky worked as a pharmacy tech for 10 years.

Becky lives in Loranger. She cherishes time with her family, which includes her two children -- Rose, 27, and Joseph, 17. She also is excited to have a grandchild on the way!

Her pastimes include baking and traveling.

“Becky’s dedication to North Oaks is second-to-none," affirms Clinical Nurse Manager Robert LeBlanc. "Solution-driven, she has a positive outlook and impeccable work ethic. She possesses a wealth of institutional knowledge and is willing to share it. Well-respected, she not only functions as Charge Nurse, but also as a vital member of our heart and trauma teams.”
