Holiday Attractions Planned for North Oaks Medical Center Expansion Open House

In addition to facility tours, a host of family-friendly holiday activities are planned for the North Oaks Medical Center Expansion Community Open House on Thursday, Nov. 29.

Attractions include a train ride and photos with Santa Claus for children, outdoor snow flurries, cookies and hot chocolate, health screenings and door prize drawings. All activities are free, and guests are encouraged to bring a canned good to benefit food pantries in Tangipahoa and Livingston Parishes.

The North Oaks Medical Center Community Open House will showcase how the hospital is taking health care in a new direction with more privacy, the latest in surgical services technology and expert staff.

Before the ribbon cutting, from 4:30-5 p.m., the Livingston Parish Children’s Choir Chorale will perform Christmas carols. The ribbon cutting program will start at 5 p.m. with Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne as the keynote speaker. The Louisiana Air National Guard 236th Combat Communications Squadron, based in Hammond, will serve as Color Guard. Alexis Marceaux, of NBC’s The Voicefame, will perform the National Anthem and Christmas carols, and also sign autographs. After the ribbon cutting, guests can take guided tours and meet the hospital’s expert staff.

The hospital expansion houses 95 additional private rooms and will take the hospital to 330 total patient beds. It also features fourteen high-tech operating suites, eleven additional same day surgery beds, a surgical intensive care unit and a customized orthopaedic and neurosurgery floor with a rehabilitation gym.
