- 11,353 COVID-19 patient deaths (up 143 since Aug. 9)

- 338 COVID-19 patients on ventilators (up 61 since Aug. 9)
- 90% of all COVID-19 cases are in unvaccinated individuals.

- 94 COVID-19 patients hospitalized (down 5 since Aug. 9)

- NORH: 19 patients (1 COVID-19 positive); 2-3 possible admits
- Hood: 16 hospitalized (1 COVID-19 positive); 3 ER boarders, 2 of whom are
COVID-19 positive; 4 employees out monitoring
- Tested 33,067 individuals (up 423 since Aug. 9)
- 5,127 positive test results for inpatients/outpatients combined (up 115
since Aug. 9)
- 1,376 COVID-19 patients recovered (up 24 since Aug. 9)
Staffing and Volume
- MICU 2 remains open and has 6 patients.
- ER has 5 boarders.
- Staffing remains extremely tight, and all supplemental staffing contingency
plans remain active.
- Infection Prevention is going well, thanks to the team.
- ER Infusion for COVID-19 positive patients on Medicine Unit I continues
from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Over the last 2 days, 42 infusions were performed.
- Non-emergent elective surgeries at NOMC are suspended this week.
- Today, the Surgical Services schedule includes 4 surgeries at NOMC, 23
at the Surgery Center, 7 Cath Lab cases and 2 Endoscopies.
- We are on diversion for everything but trauma and stroke.
- We are excited to announce the U.S. Public Health Service Corps arrived
this week. Their meet and greet was yesterday. Orientation and EPIC training
is today. We are fortunate to receive: 3 physicians, 2 nurse practitioners,
1 physician assistant, 7 nurses, 1 safety officer and 1 commander. The
commander is working with CNO Kirsten Riney and CMO Dr. Peltier on their
staffing assignments to extend our ability to care for more patients.
The team will be here until Sept. 7. Please extend a warm North Oaks welcome
to the team if you see them on campus. You can identify them by their
yellow contract badge with USPHSC.
- Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing remains open and 190 tests were performed over
the last 2 days.
- Employee Wellness returned 30 employees back to work since Aug. 9. There
are 56 out monitoring symptoms at home (8 RNs; 0 respiratory therapists).
- Our employee vaccination rate is now 65%.
- Department leaders should send to Jeff Jarreau any employees who would
like to receive the vaccine while at work. Please indicate the department,
the number of employees and whether they are on the day or night shift.
Dr. Peltier has a team who is willing to go to the floor to offer vaccines.

- Clinic volume is steady with no significant changes.
- Diagnostics is busy but volume is flat.
- Urgent Care clinics did 131 first doses and 55 second doses of the vaccine
yesterday.
- Supply levels are good.
- Our visitor policy remains the same.
- We’ve opened a new return to work clinic located in Northshore Internal
Medicine Associates with Dr. Charles Ducombs and Michelle Civello.
- Dr. Peltier reports that team is working to update the COVID order set with IT.
For Our Team
- Thurs., Aug. 19, Johnny, Jeff and Michael will grill and serve hamburgers
to the night staff beginning at 10 p.m.
- Additionally, we will serve complimentary breakfast to our staff Tues.,
Aug. 17 and Thurs., Aug. 19 in the cafeteria. Cookies will be available
for the night staff on those same days.
- Downtown Yoga has offered to provide complimentary yoga to our team at
the ODC. Once dates and times are finalized, we will share those details broadly.
Community Awareness
- Get Dr. Robert Peltier’s bi-weekly COVID-19 Updates on Tuesdays and
Thursdays at 7:10 a.m. on Tangi 96.5 FM.
- Fri., Aug. 13 Dr. Peltier will participate in a webinar for pastors of
the statewide United Methodist Conference.
- Meal donations planned are as follows:
- Infection Prevention vendor Cleanis donating pizzas for lunch for 11 areas today
- The Cakery donated cookies and brownies for 20 areas today
- Parish President Robby Miller and his wife Donna Miller donating lunch
and dinner for the ED tomorrow
- Stirling Properties donating lunch and dinner for Women & Children’s
and SICU Friday
- Jani-King working with Yellow Van Farms to have 10 small floral arrangements
delivered 3/days per week for next 4 weeks to brighten nursing units on
a rotating basis. Thank you to Infection Prevention Manager Amanda Morse
for giving us guidance on appropriate areas.
