Dr. Anish Shah Joins North Oaks Infectious Disease Clinic, Accepting New Patients

Anish Shah, DO, has joined North Oaks Infectious Disease Clinic, a department of North Oaks Medical Center. He is accepting new patients.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Shah specializes in treating individuals with communicable illnesses such as multidrug-resistant infections, pneumonia, tuberculosis, urinary tract infections, traumatic and surgical wound infections, bone and joint infections, and HIV/AIDS.

“After more than 10 years in hospital medicine, I decided to specialize in infectious diseases because I saw a great need for providers in this specialty worldwide,” Dr. Shah explains. “As our world becomes more interconnected, the global transmission of infectious diseases will increase, and I want to be at the forefront of fighting against that.”

Dr. Shah continues, “I became a healthcare provider to help people in their time of need. By establishing an atmosphere of trust and open lines of communication with my patients, I can develop ideal care plans for them with the goal of improving their health outcomes.”

Following his graduation from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Shah completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. He served on the assistant medical staff and as chief medicine resident for Ochsner Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in infectious diseases at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans.

Dr. Shah assumes his full-time position with North Oaks Infectious Disease Clinic after serving as a consulting medical staff member for North Oaks Medical Center since 2023 and East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie since 2022.

Prior to entering the field of infectious diseases, Dr. Shah held various positions at the Heart Hospital of Austin in Texas for 10 years. These roles included facility medical director, chair of the department of medicine, hospitalist, and associate director. During his time in Texas, Dr. Shah also served as the associate director and hospitalist for the Austin Regional Clinic and Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin Hospital. Additionally, he held a senior staff position at Baylor Scott & White University Medical Center in Round Rock, Texas, and served as medical director for Compassionate Care Hospice in Bastrop, Texas and Harbor Hospice in Austin.

Professionally, Dr. Shah belongs to the American College of Physicians, Society of Hospital Medicine and Infectious Diseases Society of America.

North Oaks Infectious Disease Clinic is located on the second floor of the North Oaks Clinic Building at 15813 Paul Vega, MD, Dr. in Hammond. Clinic hours of operation are weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm.
