Linarello and Pitre Honored as North Oaks’ Providers of the Year for 2024

North Oaks Health System proudly announces General Surgeon Daniel A. Linarello, MD, as its 2024 Physician of the Year and Physician Assistant Marc E. Pitre, PA-C, as its 2024 Advanced Practitioner of the Year.

Recognized for their exceptional dedication to serving others, leadership, performance excellence and community involvement, Dr. Linarello and Pitre have made significant impacts since joining the North Oaks medical staff in 2002 and 2012, respectively.

As the chair of the North Oaks Surgical Service Executive Committee, Dr. Linarello champions innovative treatment options, like minimally invasive robotic surgery, and was instrumental in establishing the North Oaks Wound Care Center in 2022. His leadership also extends to the Medical Executive Committee, for which he serves as chair of the Surgery Department, as well as the Colon Awareness Committee, the Breast Care Program and the hospital’s tumor boards.

For over twenty years, Dr. Linarello has delivered compassionate care with a sense of humor. One patient shared her deep appreciation for his genuine and kind demeanor even when delivering a difficult diagnosis. “I wish I could see him every day because he brings me so much peace,” said a long-time patient.

Pitre joined North Oaks Physician Group in 2012. He initially worked with North Oaks Neurosurgery before transitioning to North Oaks Orthopaedic Specialty Center—Hammond in 2013, where he works closely with Orthopedic Surgeon and Spine Specialist Matthew Lafleur, MD.

One nomination reads, “Marc listens to each patient, ensuring they feel heard, understood and supported. His caring demeanor fosters trust.”

Beyond direct patient care, Pitre is also committed to enhancing healthcare delivery and inspiring others on the orthopedic team to excel. He actively collaborates with colleagues to streamline workflows, reduce wait times and enhance patient education.

“If I have any questions or concerns, I can depend on Marc to give me an answer quickly," notes a coworker. Another asserts, "Marc epitomizes the core tenets of North Oaks, which are compassion, communication, courtesy and commitment.”

The medical executive committees for North Oaks Medical Center and North Oaks Rehabilitation Hospital select the providers of the year based on nominations from health system employees, volunteers and providers.
