Same Day Surgery Staff Registered Nurse Mallarey Recognized with Nurse Excellence Award

Same Day Surgery Staff Registered Nurse Mallarey has received North Oaks Health System's Nurse Excellence Award for April 2023.

Mallarey became part of the North Oaks family in 2016 as a Nurse Tech in the Operating Room. After achieving her childhood aspirations b earning a bachelor’s degree in Nursing through Southeastern Louisiana University in 2017, she accepted a Staff Registered Nurse position with the Intermediate Care Unit.

“My calling is helping others,” Mallarey explains.

The following year, she transferred to the Medical Intensive Care Unit, where she also served as a Preceptor mentoring newly hired registered nurses on the unit. This summer, she joined the Same Day Surgery team.

“I love my coworkers. They are my second family,” Mallarey explains. “They inspire me to strive to be the best nurse I can be.”

Mallarey and her husband Joey reside in Ponchatoula with their two-year-old son Brody and dog, Daisy. Away from work, family time is her priority.

“Mallarey is a team player, who generously shares her knowledge and consistently lends a hand to her coworkers," asserts Critical Care Director Charles Abrams. "She has the trust and respect of our medical staff and is committed to creating positive patient outcomes and experiences. She truly has a passion for nursing. Patients rave about her kindness, personality and fantastic care, and her coworkers say that it brightens their day to work with her.”
