Medical Intensive Care Unit Staff Registered Nurse Jocelyn Honored with Nurse Excellence Award

Medical Intensive Care Unit Staff Registered Nurse Jocelyn has received North Oaks Health System's Nurse Excellence Award for January 2023.

Jocelyn began her North Oaks career in 2010 as a day care teacher. After becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2014, she began working as a Clinic Nurse with North Oaks Physician Group. After becoming a Registered Nurse in 2018, she transferred to the Intermediate Care Unit (ICA) on nights. She joined the Interventional Radiology team in 2019, while continuing to work on ICA. In 2022, she began working exclusively on ICA as a Charge Nurse. At the beginning of 2023, she accepted a Staff Registered Nurse position on the Medical Intensive Care Unit.

“Helping patients get better and seeing their health improve is my ultimate goal,” Jocelyn notes. “I love being a nurse. Caring for my patients brings me so much joy.”

Jocelyn earned an associate degree in Nursing from Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit. Previously, she graduated from Northshore Technical Community College’s Licensed Practical Nursing program. Committed to lifelong learning, she recently completed a course on chemotherapy basics to further her nursing knowledge.

Jocelyn and her husband Joe live in her hometown of Loranger with their 4-year-old son Jaxson.

Away from work, Jocelyn fills her time making memories with her family and going to the gym.

“Jocelyn is a team player, who is knowledgeable and passionate about the care our patients and their loved ones experience," Critical Care Director Charles Abrams. She possesses model leadership skills and helps to train and mentor new staff. We receive daily feedback from patients, providers and her peers praising her dedication to positive patient outcomes and experiences.”
