Pediatrics Unit Staff RN Kermeche Honored with Nurse Excellence Award

Pediatrics Unit Staff Registered Nurse Kermeche has received North Oaks Health System's Nurse Excellence Award for October 2022.

Kermeche joined the Pediatrics Unit team at North Oaks Medical Center in 2015 in her current position of Staff Registered Nurse (RN). In 2020, she took on the additional role of Epic Electronic Health Record Trainer for new Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants to the health system. She also serves as a Pediatrics Unit Charge Nurse and Preceptor to help orient new staff members.

“The most rewarding thing about working in Pediatrics is interacting with the children and playing a part in their recovery,” Kermeche notes. “It’s more than a job when you love what you do. It’s a calling.”

Kermeche was born at North Oaks Medical Center and grew up in Greensburg, where she graduated from St. Helena High School at the top of her class as valedictorian. Originally, she aspired to become a teacher, but ultimately earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University.

“I chose to become a Nurse because I have always enjoyed helping people,” she explains. “As a Pediatric Nurse, I strive to make every day better for our patients and their families with exceptional care, a loving heart and compassion. And sometimes, just a smile goes a long way!”

Greensburg is still home for Kermeche and her husband Dwayne Jr. They have three children – 14-year-old Dwayne III, 10-year-old Jacob and 5-year-old Da’Mari.

Away from North Oaks, you can find Kermeche relaxing and spending quality time with her family.

“Kermeche’s love for caring for children and improving lives shines brightly," asserts Women & Children's Services Director Tamara Mitchell. "She has a gift for making our young patients and their families feel at home. Whether giving parents a break or helping a patient choose a toy or movie, those in Kermeche’s care consistently compliment her ability to anticipate needs.”
