LISTEN: STOP THE BLEED and Save a Life

In this episode of KAJUN 107.1 FM's "Coffee and Conversation," Host TJ Maggio talks with North Oaks Trauma Program Manager Jodi Gennusa and Trauma Performance Improvement/Outreach Education Nurse Ashley Simmons about the Level II Trauma Center's launch of public STOP THE BLEED® classes. Uncontrolled bleeding is the number one cause of preventable death from trauma and responsible for approximately 40% of all pre-hospital deaths worldwide.

Counteracting this startling reality is at the heart of an American College of Surgeons program called STOP THE BLEED®. This special emergency training program aims to train anyone to stop bleeding in a severely injured person until professional first responders have time to arrive.

To date, more than 2.1 million people worldwide have been trained.
