North Oaks and Chappapeela Sports Park Forge Innovative Partnership

A newly-forged partnership between North Oaks Health System and Chappapeela Sports Park (CSP) will provide innovative and exciting opportunities for student-athletes throughout the community and beyond.

CSP Executive Director Ryan Barker explains, “Our cooperative endeavor agreement is the result of ‘outside-of-the-box’ thinking in the recreational sports world.” Barker is pictured above second from left. Joining him, clockwise from left, are North Oaks Sports Performance Supervisor Akeem Robinson, Administrative Chief of Staff Jessica Bennett, Orthopaedic Service Line Operational Director Reagan Johnson and Service Line Project Specialist Matthew Rabalais.

“Chappapeela and North Oaks have collaborated since the park opened in 2013,” affirms Reagan Johnson, operational director for the health system’s orthopedic service line. “Our newly enhanced relationship enables us to create more synergy that ultimately benefits student-athletes and promotes exercise and a healthy lifestyle.”

North Oaks Health System will serve as CSP’s official health care provider withNorth Oaks Sports Medicine and North Oaks Sports Performance services enhancing the partnership. For example, certified athletic trainers will cover select events and tournaments hosted at the park. The health system also will host quarterly community outreach activities and sports-centric continuing education seminars for park staff and coaches.

Priority scheduling for North Oaks Orthopaedic Specialty Center services will be streamlined for the student-athlete if it is determined that a higher level of care is needed.

In addition, individual student-athletes and teams desiring to enhance their athletic performance in the areas of agility, durability, flexibility, mobility, power, strength and speed will be able to access the services of North Oaks Sports Performance’s programs provided by certified sports performance specialists for a cash price.

As Barker and Johnson explain, the advantages of such a partnership are numerous. “Not only does our relationship elevate the level of safety and protection afforded our student-athletes, but also it assures year-round support specifically designed to meet their needs,” Barker notes.

“By opening up more access to enhanced and consistent sports medicine and performance training services, our partnership endeavors to reach more student-athletes earlier in their athletic careers. Our goal is to empower them with the skill set to successfully compete at elite levels and become the best version of themselves in every aspect of life,” Johnson adds.
