2021 Medical Executive Committee Announced for North Oaks Medical Center

Nine area physicians are serving on the North Oaks Medical Center Medical Executive Committee for 2021. These officers were selected by their peers to serve as liaisons between the North Oaks Medical Staff and North Oaks Health System Board of Commissioners.

Serving as Chief of Staff is Trauma Surgeon Marquinn Duke, M.D., FACS. He joined the North Oaks Medical Staff in 2014 and is a graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. After completing a surgical residency at Tulane University in New Orleans, he carried out a fellowship through Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Duke is certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Critical Care and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. From 2015-2018, he served on the hospital’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and was a member-at-large on the Medical Executive Committee in 2016. He also is a past member of the Finance and Opioid Committees. He has belonged to the Physician Informatics Committee since 2016 and the Sepsis and Critical Care Committee since 2015. Currently, he also is a member of the medical staff’s Clinical Quality and Innovations Group and serves as vice chairman and trauma representative for the Regional Commission of the Louisiana Emergency Response Network (LERN) for Region 9.

Serving as Chief of Staff-Elect is Emergency Medicine Physician Brandon Cambre, M.D. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in Shreveport and completed an internship and residency through the LSU Emergency Medicine Program at the former Earl K. Long Memorial Hospital in Baton Rouge. Cambre, who is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and joined the North Oaks Medical Staff in 2005, was the Emergency Medicine Committee vice chairman for the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee in 2017 and served as its chairman in 2019 and 2020. Cambre’s other leadership roles include service on the hospital’s Emergency Medicine Steering Committee in 2009 and the Bylaws and Credentials Committee (2014 vice chairman and 2015-2016 member). Cambre also represents hospitals with more than 100 beds on the Regional Commission of LERN for Region 9.

Members-at-Large are Urologist Stephen Graham, M.D., and Endocrinologist Corey Majors, M.D.

Graham earned his medical degree at LSUHSC in Shreveport and completed his internship in General Surgery and residency in Urology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is certified by the American Board of Urology and joined the North Oaks Medical Staff in 2012.

Majors earned his medical degree through Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed an Internal Medicine residency through Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Baton Rouge. A fellowship followed in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism through the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He joined the North Oaks medical staff in 2017 and is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Family Medicine Physician Leonard Treanor, M.D., is serving as Family Practice Chairman. He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of the Americas in Charlestown, Nevis, West Indies. He carried out an internship and residency through Baton Rouge General Medical Center and is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in family medicine, hospice and palliative care. He joined the North Oaks Medical Staff in 2011 and was vice chairman of the Family Practice department in 2015 and 2016. In 2017 and 2018, he served as a member-at-large on the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee.

Pulmonologist Justin Fowlkes, M.D., is serving as Medicine Chairman. He joined the North Oaks Medical Staff in 2017 and earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Medicine in New Orleans. Through LSUHSC in Baton Rouge, he completed an internal medicine residency as chief resident and a pulmonary/critical care fellowship. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal, critical care and pulmonary medicine.

Obstetrician and Gynecologist Brian Ashford, M.D., who is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology, is serving as Obstetrics & Gynecology and Pediatrics Chairman. He earned his medical degree from LSUHSC in New Orleans, where he also completed an internship and residency. Ashford, who joined the North Oaks Medical Staff in 2010, has served on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee since 2014.

Jacques Peltier, M.D.

Ear, Nose and Throat Physician Jacques Peltier, M.D., who joined the North Oaks medical staff in 2007, is serving as Surgery Department Chairman. He earned his medical degree through LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. He completed an internship and residency in otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) through the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. His past leadership roles at North Oaks Medical Center include member-at-large for the Medical Executive Committee from 2013-2014, member of the Professional Practice Evaluation Committee from 2010-2011 and member of the Surgery Steering Committee from 2008-2009.

John Krieg, M.D.

Emergency Medicine Physician John Krieg, M.D., is serving as Emergency Department Chairman after fulfilling the role of vice chairman for the past three years. A member of the North Oaks Medical Staff since 2015, Krieg earned his medical degree through the LSUHSC in New Orleans. He completed an internship and residency through LSU’s emergency medicine program at Charity Hospital, also in New Orleans. Professionally, he belongs to the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and American College of Emergency Physicians. Last year, he also belonged to the Bylaws and Credentials Committee.

North Oaks Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center with 330 beds.
