Telemetry Unit Staff Registered Nurse Lauren Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Telemetry Unit Staff Registered Nurse Lauren has been honored with the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for January 2021.

Lauren joined the Telemetry Unit team at North Oaks Medical Center in 2018 as a Staff Registered Nurse. In the years since, she has embraced the added responsibilities of district nurse, relief charge nurse, preceptor and chairperson of the Telemetry’s unit-based nursing shared governance council.

“I love helping heart patients take steps toward recovery,” shares Lauren.

After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and minor in Chemistry, Lauren went on to earn a second bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University.

“North Oaks has opened many doors of opportunity for me and helped me grow as a person and professional,” asserts Lauren.

Born at North Oaks, Lauren resides in her hometown of Hammond with her husband Ryan and their daughters Lorelei, 2, and Jodie, 8 months old.

Away from the hospital, Lauren prioritizes family time with her daughters. Crafting is a favorite hobby.

“Before Lauren became a nurse, she was a higher education instructor," affirms Clinical Nurse Manager Jesse Donahue. "Her enthusiasm for the nursing profession, teaching and setting others up for success, make her an incredible preceptor for new nurses to our team. Our patients rave about her care, and her coworkers appreciate her helpfulness and positive approach to improving lives.”
