Carruth and Lee Reappointed to Board of Commissioners

The Tangipahoa Parish Council has unanimously voted to reappoint Ann Carruth, DNS, RN, and Joycelyn M. Lee, R.Ph., to second 6-year terms on the North Oaks Health System Board of Commissioners.

Both appointments were voted upon at the council’s May 11 meeting and will become effective June 1, 2020.

Carruth, a resident of Hammond, is currently serving as vice chairman. She was first appointed by the council as a commissioner in 2012 to fulfill the unexpired term of Dr. Eleanor Wells. The council subsequently appointed her to her first full 6-year term on March 24, 2014, effective June 1 of that same year.

Carruth is Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Southeastern Louisiana University, and has served in various teaching and administrative positions at the university since 1990. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the Tangipahoa District Nurses Association for which she was president from 2007-2009. Carruth is currently serving on the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, appointed by Governor John Bel Edwards in 2018.

Lee, a resident and native of Hammond, also was appointed by the council to her first 6-year term on March 24, 2014, effective June 1 that same year. Her experience as a medical professional includes that of pharmacy manager at Walgreens, pharmacist 3 at Northlake Support and Services Center for more than 20 years, manager of Greenfield Baptist Church Mixon-Clayton Wellness Center of Hammond, and Pharmacy Technician Program Director at Northshore Technical Community College.

Honored as a member of Who’s Who Among Professional Women, Lee continues to volunteer with the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross and The Blood Center.  Professionally, she belongs to the Louisiana Pharmacist Association, American Society of Health System Pharmacists and the Pharmacy Technicians Educators Council. Throughout her tenure, she has served as a regional advisor concerning advancements and benefits of medicinal usage and changes and developments in health care within our communities.

Other North Oaks Board of Commissioners members are: Chairman Ron Macaluso of Hammond; Terry Harper and Ron Orsi of Loranger; and Blake Daniels and Angelique Richardson of Ponchatoula.
