Medical Intensive Care Unit Staff RN Paige Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Medical Intensive Care Unit Staff RN Paige has been honored with the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for April 2020.

Paige joined North Oaks Medical Center’s Critical Care team in 2007 as a Staff Registered Nurse. She has maintained certification as a Critical Care Registered Nurse since 2004. Overall, she has been providing direct bedside care to critically ill patients for 28 years.

“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Paige shares. “I love what I do.”

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux.

Paige’s career was inspired by the time she spent in hospitals growing up for her brother to receive treatment for spina bifida.

“I always admired the many caring, competent, compassionate nurses who impacted his and our whole family’s lives,” she explains.

Paige lives in Ponchatoula with her husband Stewart, 15-year-old daughter Landry, and their dogs, Lucy and Chloe.

For fun, Paige enjoys any activity with her family. Most of all, she enjoys boating, traveling and cheering Landry on at her sporting events.

Professionally, she belongs to the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.

“Paige is a virtuous, compassionate and brilliant nurse," affirms Bess Himel, clinical nurse manager. "To me, she personifies the nurse that Florence Nightingale envisioned for the future of the profession. Paige is committed to lifelong learning and takes pride in sharing her knowledge to educate, train and guide others. Even on the busiest of nights, she is a calming, optimistic force and admired by her coworkers for her strong work ethic.”
