Labor & Delivery Staff RN Stephanie Receives Nurse Excellence Award

Labor & Delivery Staff Registered Nurse Stephanie has been honored with the North Oaks Health System Nurse Excellence Award for May 2020.

Stephanie joined the North Oaks team in May 2002 as a Rehab Tech. In 2003, she began working as a Nurse Tech in various areas of Women & Children’s Services, which she found to be an exciting and challenging environment. After graduation from nursing school, she accepted a position on the unit in 2006 as a Staff Registered Nurse.

“I love being able to connect with my patients by encouraging and supporting them during one of the most challenging and rewarding experience of their lives,” she explains.

As a member of the Women & Children’s Services unit-based Council, Stephanie has helped to facilitate many enhancements to patient care. She also gives generously of her time orienting new nurses and providing technical support for Epic upgrades. A new nurse recently shared that Stephanie was instrumental in building her confidence and instilling in her the importance of being an advocate for your patient.

“I believe education is key to helping patients make the best decisions for themselves and their growing families," Stephanie shares.

Stephanie earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Southeastern Louisiana University.

She lives in her hometown of Hammond with her husband Robbie and their 5-year-old twins, Emery and Bryant.

Outside of her work, Stephanie values time spent with family and friends. She also enjoys reading and going to concerts.

“To ensure a strong support system, Stephanie tailors education for new mothers and their families to individual needs," affirms Holly Myers, Women's Services Clinical Nurse Manager. "Her patients often tell me how much they trust her and that they feel very safe in her care. She is as compassionate, courteous and committed to her coworkers as she is to her patients and their families.”
