North Oaks Marketing and Public Relations Initiatives Honored by Louisiana Society for Hospital Public Relations and Marketing

The communications, public relations and business development efforts of North Oaks Health System were honored at the 2016 Annual Pelican Awards, sponsored by the Louisiana Society for Hospital Public Relations and Marketing (LSHPRM) on Nov. 4 at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center.
North Oaks was recognized with Pelican Awards in the following categories:
- Annual Report
- External Periodicals
- Internal Periodicals
- Special Purpose Material: Logo
- Events.
Each year, North Oaks Health System publishes an annual report for distribution to its board of commissioners, health system leadership and other critical stakeholders, such as key government officials. The objective of the piece is to inform these stakeholders of important milestones, highlights and financial information from the previous fiscal year, as well as to provide insight of future plans.
North Oaks’ external newsletter, CommUnity, is produced three times a year and reaches an average of 55,527 households per publication. Its primary purpose is to deliver timely medical information, health tips and preventive topics. It is also instrumental in publicizing health screenings, educational classes and support group meetings.
Heartbeat, a quarterly newsletter for North Oaks’ employees and volunteers, has highlighted employee recognition and provided important health system updates, and has been published for 31 consecutive years.
Pelican Awards for “Special Purpose Material: Logo” and “Events” were awarded for Play It Safe, a free, interactive community event for families with children 12 and under. The goal of the event is to increase awareness of common preventable injuries through educational safety activities.
Certificates of Merit were also awarded to North Oaks in the “Presentation” category for an informative audit binder about North Oaks Level II Trauma program and in the “Website Initiatives” category for the Women’s Health Channel on the NorthOaks.tv website.
LSHPRM is an affiliate society of the Louisiana Hospital Association. For the past 35 years, LSHPRM has sponsored the Pelican Awards to recognize and encourage improvement in quality, effectiveness and impact of hospital communications, public relations and marketing.
