If you don’t have insurance, you may qualify for Medicaid.

The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals has expanded Medicaid coverage, effective July 1, 2016. The state estimates that as many as 450,000 adults will be eligible for the benefits. And, you could be included in this number if you are between the ages of 19-64 and have a limited income. (See chart below.)

If you already receive SNAP (food stamp) benefits, you may be able to express enroll with no application needed.

Financial Counselors are available to help you find out if you qualify and complete the paperwork by calling (985) 230-2580. Or you can apply for Medicaid in three ways:

  • Telephone – Call 1-888-342-6207
  • Online – www.healthy.la.gov
  • In Person – Application assistance sites. North Oaks is one of the Application Assistance sites and has a Medicaid Analyst on site to expedite the application process.
