Dr. Burns is a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. His vast experience as an obstetrician and gynecologist spans 21 years. No stranger to the Northshore community, he has spent the past three years of his career caring for patients in private practice as a physician on the North Oaks medical staff.
Dr. Burns specializes in menopausal medicine and is highly trained in laparoscopic and minimally invasive robotic surgical procedures.
“What drew me to the field of obstetrics and gynecology was its diversity,” notes Dr. Burns. “From helping my patients make informed decisions and deliver new life into the world to optimizing their hormones and performing robotic surgeries, I find my work incredibly rewarding and motivating. Giving my patients the best possible care is always the goal.”
Dr. Burns’ patient care philosophy involves a team approach. He explains, “My patients have a better overall experience with a team approach. Everyone plays a vital role in patient care – from the front desk receptionist to the physician.”
Before earning his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, Dr. Burns earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University. He completed his residency at North Oakland Medical Centers in Pontiac, Michigan. During his time in Pontiac, he served as co-chief resident in his third year and administrative chief resident in his fourth year.
Before moving to Louisiana in 2021, Dr. Burns practiced in the midwestern U.S. at the Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation in Belleville; Touchette Regional Hospital in Centreville, Illinois; Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois; and the Carle Physician Group in Urbana, Illinois; as well as St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, Missouri.
