Hollywood Joins North Oaks Orthopaedic Specialty Center

Nurse Practitioner Lindsey Hollywood, APRN, FNP-BC, has joined North Oaks Orthopaedic Specialty Center, a clinic of North Oaks Health System. To schedule an appointment with North Oaks Orthopaedic Specialty Center, call (985) 230-BONE [2663] or click here.

Working alongside Orthopedic Surgeon and Foot and Ankle Specialist Patrick Barousse, MD, Hollywood helps care for patients with musculoskeletal issues, including broken or fractured bones, osteoporosis, arthritis and other injuries or diseases.

She asserts, "Whether it's an acute injury or a chronic issue like arthritis, it can derail a person's life. Working with patients to get them back to their desired life and activity level is incredibly gratifying."

Hollywood has more than seven years of experience in nursing, garnered through her work in full-service healthcare, urgent care and surgical care settings.

"Having worked in the operating room setting as an orthopedic circulating nurse for six years, I saw what goes into surgically repairing acute and chronic orthopedic conditions. Adding this knowledge and specific skill set to my advanced practice degree, where I learned to assess, diagnose and treat patients, has heightened my understanding of caring for patients in an orthopedic setting from start to finish,” says Hollywood.

She earned both master's and bachelor's degrees in Nursing from Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society. Hollywood is a board-certified family nurse practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

"Educating, communicating and working as a team with my patients is essential. I help them understand their condition and options, why we are using a certain treatment plan, or why it's important they perform the stretches we give them," continues Hollywood. "I aim to ensure they have all the necessary resources and tools to succeed."

Nurse practitioners are nationally certified, state-licensed medical professionals who practice independently. Nurse practitioners are credentialed to manage their patients' overall care, diagnose and treat medical conditions, prescribe medications and educate their patients on disease prevention and management.

With two locations in Hammond and Livingston, North Oaks Orthopaedic Specialty Center specializes in diagnosing and treating injuries or illnesses that affect bones, joints or muscles.

The Hammond clinic is located in North Oaks Office Plaza at 15813 Paul Vega, MD, Drive and the Livingston clinic is located in North Oaks-Livingston Parish Medical Complex at 17199 Spring Ranch Road in Livingston.
