Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Manager Ashley Acosta-Chanove was recently recognized by The Daily Star as a “Future 40 Under 40” professional to watch.

Acosta-Chanove joined North Oaks as the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Manager in September 2014.

As such, she helps to ensure the safety and effectiveness of prescription medications. She works closely with case managers and the nursing team to deliver exceptional customer service.

For many North Oaks patients, the cost of prescription drugs is a barrier to following their doctor’s orders, so Acosta-Chanove plays a key role in helping patients find lower-cost prescription alternatives when available.

During her tenure, Acosta-Chanove has been instrumental in planning and launching the North Oaks Prescription Center. Her drive and attention to detail continue to help the health system control the cost of its health care benefit program for employees.

Acosta-Chanove also was instrumental in the development and implementation of the hospital-wide “Meds to Beds” program, helping educate patients about their medications in preparation for their discharge from the hospital. These programs help ease patient anxiety, increase the likelihood that prescribed medication regimens will be followed, improve clinical outcomes and reduce the chance of adverse drug events and hospital readmissions.

In recognition of her accomplishments, Acosta-Chanove was named Leader of the Year in 2016.

“Ashley is dedicated to her profession, and patients love working with her. She goes the extra mile every day to support her colleagues and her patients,” shares Honey Pearson, Pharmacy Director.

Acosta-Chanove completed Southeastern Louisiana University’s pre-professional Pharmacy program through the Department of Biological Sciences and went on to earn her doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
