Surgical Tech Stephen Honored as Employee of the Month for April 2017

Surgical Tech Stephen has been honored with the North Oaks Health System Employee of the Month Award for April 2017.

"You never know what you'll face in the operating room. Every case is unique," Stephen shares.

Stephen joined the North Oaks Surgery Center team in 2010 as a Surgical Tech. In 2014, he transferred to the Operating Room at North Oaks Medical Center. In July 2017, he also began assisting in Endoscopy as needed.

A native of New Orleans, he attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Texas State Technical College in Waco.

A proud military veteran, Stephen served in the U.S. Army based at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.

Stephen and his wife Ericka live in Hammond. They have a grown daughter, Carrie, and two grandchildren—Lane, who is 4½, and Wade, who is 3.

Away from work, Stephen can be found enjoying the outdoors fishing, camping or mud riding on ATVs.

"He has the skills needed to assist in all surgical services and specialties and often volunteers to cover on-call needs. In the intense environment that is the surgical theater, Stephen is a source of calm.”
