Carruth and Lee Appointed to North Oaks Health System Board of Commissioners

The Tangipahoa Parish Council has voted to appoint Ann Carruth, DNS, RN, and Joycelyn M. Lee, R.Ph., a retired licensed pharmacist, to each serve a 6-year term on the North Oaks Health System Board of Commissioners. Ms. Lee will replace Guy Recotta Jr., whose term expires at the end of May 2014.

Both appointments were voted upon at the Parish Council’s March 24 meeting and will become effective June 1, 2014.

Dr. Carruth, a resident of Hammond, was first appointed by the Tangipahoa Parish Council to the North Oaks Board of Commissioners in 2012 to fulfill the unexpired term of Dr. Eleanor Wells and is currently serving as Vice Chairman. She is Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Southeastern Louisiana University, and has served in various teaching and administrative positions at the University since 1990. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the Tangipahoa District Nurses Association (serving as President from 2007-2009), Northshore Healthcare Alliance and the Southern Nursing Research Society.

Lee, also of Hammond, is a retired, licensed pharmacist with 30+ years of professional pharmacy experience in leadership and management roles in both retail and long-term care pharmacy settings. Currently, she is serving as General Manager of Wellness Services for the Greenfield Baptist Church Mixon-Clayton Wellness Center in Hammond. In 2012, she retired from Northlake Support & Services Center in Hammond after 21 years of service as a Pharmacist. Prior to joining Northlake, she worked for 9 years as a Pharmacy Manager for Walgreens in Hammond. Lee has been honored as a member of Who’s Who Among Professional Women and volunteers with the American Cancer Society, The Blood Center and the Apotheca Food Bank in Ponchatoula.

Other North Oaks Board of Commissioners members are Chairman A.J. Bodker and Blake Daniels of Ponchatoula and Ron Macaluso of Hammond.
