With spring sports in full swing and summer practices right around the corner, let the North Oaks Sports Medicine Program help prepare your athlete to stay in the game!
Student-athletes have special health care and educational needs. Caring
for their growing bodies and knowing how to participate safely in sports
is essential for optimum performance. The North Oaks Sports Medicine program
has been caring for the community’s athletes for nearly 22 years,
focusing on their needs on the playing field and beyond.
Annual Physical Days offer complimentary physicals to eligible junior
high and high school athletes in Tangipahoa and Livingston Parishes to
help fulfill Louisiana High School Athletic Association requirements.
In addition to Physical Day, the program also offers:
- Concussion screenings
- Assistance with equipment fittings for all contact sports at participating schools
- Return-to-play assessments performed by athletic trainers
- Safety & Injury Prevention educational sessions for school coaches and athletic directors.
Top three tips for student-athletes to stay healthy:
- Eat nutritious meals and drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.
- Get enough rest and be sure to stretch before practices and games.
- Use proper technique in sport-specific movements to develop strength and flexibility.
Should an injury occur, our goal is to get the athlete the expert care he or she needs— and work with coaches and parents to ensure the athlete is 100 percent ready to return to the sport.
