Medical Explorers Kick Off 2013-14 Year with North Oaks Health System

North Oaks Health System and the Boy Scouts of America welcomed 35 Medical Explorers to Post 940 for the 2013-14 school year during orientation on Dec. 2 in the E. Brent Dufreche Conference Center. This year’s post is made up of students from Southeastern Louisiana University and 10 high schools in Livingston, Tangipahoa and St. Tammany Parishes.
Post 940 enables high school and college students, ages 14-20, to observe in North Oaks facilities during winter, Mardi Gras and spring school breaks. Explorers also will attend a career fair where medical professionals will talk about what their work is really like.
Medical Explorers from Livingston Parish total four, including: Dana Hudson, Albany High School; Madison and Morgan Mincey, Denham Springs High School; and Madelyn Varnado, French Settlement High School.
Twenty-seven students hail from Tangipahoa Parish schools, including: Dulce Contreras, Kristen Favalora, Amiracca Marshall, Mary Martinez, Hunter Monte, Karlie Punch and Cali Sbisa, Hammond High Magnet School; Myah Cook, Independence High School; Marshay McCray and Brandy Welch, Loranger High School; Libby Brandenbrug, Collin Buzzetta, Chelsea Cook, Brittany Dragg, Savannah Hall, Rainah Henderson, Hank Hollie, Leah Lambert, Lizzie Landry, Erin Pereira and Brooke Teel, Ponchatoula High School; Sadie Daugereaux, Brittany Flynn, Taylor Ridgedell, Lauren St. Romain, Avrielle Steward and Madi Tucker; St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School; and Megan Monte, Southeastern Louisiana University.
McKae Moore of Fountainebleau High School, Brookelynn Seghers of Mandeville High School and Beverly Brown of St. Scholastica Academy are participating from St. Tammany Parish schools.
